Christianity is a matter of life – Be fruitful and multiply part 2 – June 10, 2020

Text: Genesis 1:28

28 And God blessed them and said to them,  Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.  Genesis 1:28 (AMPC) Essentially, God is saying I have made you after my image therefore be like Me. You have the power to express my quality and character in your manner of life and dominion.  When God said, “Be fruitful”, it suggests you are a living fruit with all it takes to produce one just like you.  Note that God did not say go and do this or that so you can bear fruit; Rather He said be fruitful and multiply because that is who I created you to be. it is your life to do so.

Jesus Christ came to show us how a man can glorify God. Be fruitful and multiply according to His will. Christ Glorified God every moment of His life and even in death on the cross. Mathew 26:39-42 He blessed humanity: Healed the sick, fed the hungry, stopped the storm on the sea, exercise dominion over death and devil. Jesus Christ exhibited unprecedented dominion over body, soul, and spirit but all to the glory and praise of God. The world became a better place since Jesus Christ was born to save man from sin. Matthew 1:21 Millions of people have turned from lifeless idols of woods and stones to serve the living God. This remarkable life of Jesus is what the original blessing of God for man was meant to be.

The million-dollar question is, how do we literally be like Jesus? During His life and ministry on earth, He answered these questions in many form: For example, “…what shall it profit a man, He asked, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36 (KJV) –Meaning that, the blessing of God exceeds material gains of mortal life. And to redeem the soul of man, Jesus said, “you must be born again” John 3:7 in other words you must experience mind transformation. Romans 12:2 This happens when through Christ, we turn from self-serving and sinfulness to serve the living God.  16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)  And how to be fruitful and multiply? Jesus responded “7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (in other words, you shall fruitful and multiply) God the Father is glorified, when you bear much fruit. John 15:1-8

Christianity is a matter of life because, to Be fruitful and multiply is to dwell in Christ and He dwells in you. It is putting on a new life like an engraved garment, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Colossians 3:10 This is the abundant life Jesus offered to all who believed by His grace. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; 14
