TEXT: John 14:26 (NKJV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 15:26-27 (NKJV) “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
Last week we talked about the gift of redemption. Which You can receive from God by faith in Jesus Christ. And thereafter, you develop a personal knowledge and relationship with your Redeemer (Jesus The Christ). Therefore, like a sheep knows his shepherd, you can know the LORD. To help us, as we read Jesus promised and offered the Helper. Which bring us to …
the third gift of this series “the Gift of Holy Spirit”. I believe the Holy Spirit is crying out to more people to speak out. Not against anyone but to testify to “The spirit of truth” and to encourage and provoke one another unto good works. So that people can be delivered from the aggressive spirit of lies in the world today. Since over 200 centuries ago, the “church” or the spread of the gospel, has been grappling with false prophets and prophesies, false teachers, and doctrines. Fortunately, the Apostle whom Jesus loved, gave the best answer to confront this challenge. He said “…you (not your group ) have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth] or you know all things.” 1 John 2:20 (AMP) ” John who said this two thousand years ago, is telling you that the Holy Spirit is given to you in person. In other words, if every believer relates personally with anointing given to him, then there will be less people following vain communication, fear mongering, manipulating spirits and outright doctrine of the devils. You must wake up the apostle suggested. That is why I want to share this fundamental truth with You. This has been a lifelong study for me, and I thank God for the opportunity to communicate this. I am confident in Christ that you will be blessed. So, let us begin with the question, who is the Holy spirit? and what is the Gift of Holy spirit? – Note that I said gift singular not gifts. We will get to the many gifts of the holy spirit later in this series.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
Jesus Christ in his own words said, He is the Comforter (or Helper), the Spirit of truth, the rivers of living waters (John 7:38), and the spirit of the Lord (Lk 4:18) He fully describe the person of Holy Spirit. He is the spirit of God who identified Jesus – “16 After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, 17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17 (NASB)” – The same spirit led and guided Jesus “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matthew 4:1 (NASB)” – The Holy Spirit indwells Jesus with power and authority. He read from the scripture that “THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED … Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:18-21 (NASB) To round it up Jesus said “16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. John 14:16-17 (NASB)”
In conclusion, the Holy Spirit is a gift from God, he has been with God from the beginning, He was with Jesus like God in the flesh. For “ 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … 14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, … John 1:1-14 (NASB) You cannot separate God from His own Spirit, neither can you disunite the Father from His Son. I and my Father are one Jesus said. They both operate and relate by the Same Spirit – The Holy Spirit. And it is the God who gives the spirit to his son and to us through His son. Jesus said, the Spirit will be in us like He was physically with his disciple for three and half years but will be in us forever. 16 And I will pray the Father, Jesus said, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; John 14:16 (KJV) Therefore, you as a believer or want to be one, need to understand and identify this truth. Jesus Christ must stand out to you in every situation and in midst of today’s the mesh of misinformation. You must own the identity of the Holy spirit as the Apostles said, so that you need not be a student is the school of spiritual reprobates. 2 Corinthians 13:5 21 Stand out and stand firm as the apostle said, “I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, he said, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 1 John 2:21 (NASB) It is time for everyone who believe that Jesus is Lord indeed to stand up and hold fast to Jesus. Cast your burden upon Jesus not anyone else. Read and study the bible yourself, so that you can hear from the Lord himself before you hear from those Jesus referred to as hirelings. We will continue from here next week with “How to receive the gift of Holy Spirit” Meanwhile, if you are not familiar with Jesus Christ, there is no need to wait, You can accept him into your life right now. Repent of your wrong doings, accept Jesus, and confess that He is Lord, ask Him to come into your life and be with you. He will and you shall know the truth and be free indeed. Please join us next week and tell a friend. God bless you.
