TEXT: Matthew 11:29 1 Corinthians 13: 13(NASB)
Matthew 11:19 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 1 Corinthians 13:13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13 (NASB)
We are learning from Jesus, how best to answer Questions and face challenges. Last week we examined the question of gain and godliness. When Jesus was asked, “…Therefore what shall we have?” : Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, 30 but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. Mark 10:29-30 But What do you do when persecution and problems preempt your expectations? Whatever you do, according to Jesus, do it for His sake and the gospel’s. Let your word of wisdom and knowledge of God be hinged on faith, hope and love of God. Just like Jesus. Let us continue to question number 2.
- Question about rejection: Luke 9: 51-56 “… And when His disciples James and John met people who had no respect for Jesus, they asked Him, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” What would you do or say when you are denied honor, reward, and preferred place in your family, workplace, or congregation? Do you see enemies that must be consumed or opportunity to be a witness of the wisdom and power of God? Jesus said, “… You do not know manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. Luke 9:55-56 (KJV) The power and gifts of the Holy spirit are not for judgment but for redemption and revival. It is human to love your friends and hate your enemies. But is wise and godly to love your enemies and do good to those who wronged you. This is what Paul told the Ephesians: that God gave us the gift of the Holy spirit and the gifts of His wisdom and knowledge, primarily to advance the goal of God in every believer. Therefore, learn from the Master, quit like babes, be strong in the Lord. Do not be tossed out of place by waves of doctrines and wisdom of men. Therefore, whatever you do in thought, word, and action, do so for Christ’s sake and the gospel. (To be continued…)
