TEXT: John 14:26 (NKJV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
1 John 2:27 (NASB) As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
Last week started talking about the signs of His anointing. To answer the question how do I know that the anointing of God is in me? To which Apostle John answered saying; “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. “1 John 4:13 (NKJV) And anyone “… who believes in the Son of God has the testimony (the witness of the Holy Spirit) in himself; …” 1 John 5:10 (NASB) When He is in you, He will testify to Himself in you. He will not leave you ignorant or wondering. This is the reason “…the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” 1 John 4:9 (NKJV) Because “… we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,” 1 Corinthians 2:12 (NASB) Just as a child is born with power to live the natural life, even so you are born again by the Spirit of God, so you can live the spiritual life. You are born new with the Characteristics of divine nature. The Spirit of God Helps, teaches, and gives spiritual knowledge. He also leads and guides us through this life unto everlasting life. 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:14 (NASB) And “… we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 1 John 4:13 (NKJV)You are now the temple from where the Holy Spirit ministers to you and the world around you. (“…For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE….” 2 Corinthians 6:16 (NASB)”) The primary sign of the Holy Spirit is your personal knowledge of the new creature. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things died; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB) When light shines in a dark place you know it, “… because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines.” 1 John 2:8 (KJV) (the works of darkness cannot cohabit with the works of the light) Now you can see beyond the cares, riches, and pleasures of this life. Luke 8:14 You can see things with the eyes of the Holy Spirit in you. You do not feel the Spirit, you Know him. But if you doubt His presence in you, then you need to call upon him right now and He will answer.
Today, we are looking at “the love of God” as a sign of the anointing. This is the kind of love with which God loved us and gave himself for us. The Holy Spirit is the embodiment of the love of God in you. You can love God and share His love because this love abides in you. This is the reason Jesus said, love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. And John wrote, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7 (NASB)
The love of God is the most powerful attribute of the anointing in you. 19 We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19 (NKJV) You begin to know God because you have received and experience His love. “… He poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5 As a result, your thoughts, words, and actions begin to desire and conform to the Love and life of God. “… like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,” 1 Peter 2:2 (NASB) You will Desire to feel and know God, your redeemer and the Spirit of the new creature. The only connection between a newborn baby and a Child of God is the word “Desire”. You are born again ready to eat the bread of life and drink the living water. You begin to understand the presence of God just as a newborn quickly knows about the mother. The child cries for her presence, enjoys the touch of love, and provision of life support. As a Christian, new or old, you are constantly hungry and thirsty for the righteousness of God. Matt. 5:6 This is one of the early but perpetual sign of the anointing. If you are uncertain about the sign of the anointing or never had one, Desire it right now. Cry out to God like a baby for the sincere bread of life. The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us with groanings too deep for words. God will answer quickly. Rom. 8:26
The anointing teaches us to love God and love one another in spirit and in truth. We really do not know love, or how to love anyone until we know the love of God. Love without God and his righteousness is no more than exchanges of interests, pleasures, and deceitfulness of riches. But true love is the anointing who is in you. Love is the greatest sing of the anointing you can exhibit because that is who God is. “… this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.” 1 John 4:10-12 (NASB) We will continue from here next week with more characteristics of the anointing. God bless you.
