Jesus and His word
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” 26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
Jesus Christ came to a well weary and with nothing to draw water; A woman of Sanitarian came there and met Jesus, He asked her, give me to drink. In their resulting conversation 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” John 4:13-15 (NKJV)
Just like we all do, the woman thought that the “Living water” will literally replace the well water in her life. How often we think that an encounter with Jesus and his word will root out material life’s challenges. So, while she wondered who is talking with her? Jesus said “I who speak to you am He” Christ, the savior of the world.
She believed she had met the LORD, in excitement, she dropped her jar of water, ran into the city, testified what she saw and heard from Jesus. Come and see… is not this the Christ? she proclaimed. And people came and found her eyewitness account of Jesus to be true. They said, now we believe…and know that this is indeed the Christ, the savior of the world. John 4:42
Jesus is here right now as He was at the well. He wants you to experience Him like the Samaritan woman. So that, you can say for yourself like Paul “I know whom I have believed” 2 Tim 1:12 For in times of need and temptations; the people who Know their God shall be strong and do exploits. Daniel 11:32 This is the point Jesus was making with the woman, you cannot worship God whom you do not know or worship Him with ordinary well water. You need spiritual water – the living water. He that believeth on me, Jesus said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:38 (KJV) The physical well of water profits a little; but the living water Jesus offers, springs continually from within, unto eternal life.
The Living water is the Holy Spirit. John 7:37-39 He is the spirit of life and worship of God. For God can only be worshiped in Spirit and truth as Jesus said. Therefore, whether you are believing Jesus today or done so a longtime ago; you must continually allow the living water to flow unto life everlasting. (keeping the living water flowing is what we call Revival) When you encounter and believe the person of Jesus and his gospel; you now have divine access to the spirit and power of God. Now you can worship Him in spirit, in truth and forever. By the grace of God, we will continue from here next Week. God bless you
