Matthew 11:19 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 1 Corinthians 13:13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13 (NASB)
he word of wisdom and of knowledge of God is the fundamental gift for all believers. Wisdom is the principal thing; … Also, it is not good for a person to be without knowledge…” Prov. 4:7,19:2 (NASB) As I said last week, quoting from the letter of Paul to the Ephesians. These gifts are for the building of the body of Christ, for personal growth, until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; Ephesians 4:13-14 (NASB) These gifts are not for sooth saying, fortune telling or cunning craftiness of men. They are for your growth, edification, and strength in the Lord. We relate and worship God with His wisdom and power.
Last week I said that the power Jesus promised, is the gift of Holy Spirit and the accompany gifts or signs. With this power He said, you will be my witness and teach people to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 (NASB) Essentially the Gift of the Holy Spirit and the various gifts is the authority by which we fulfill the everlasting purpose of God. It is important to keep this in mind as we explore these powerful gifts. They are the many spiritual parts God uses to build and maintain His living temple. The power of God is ordained for the eternal purpose of God in Christ Jesus.
The gift of life, the gift of redemption and the gift of Holy Spirit have been subject of our discussion for weeks. These are personified and personal gifts of God to anyone who believe in God - Particularly in Jesus Christ His only begotten son. He is the only way or access to our Father in Heaven. John 14:6 I like to repeat the fact that the gift of the Holy Spirit is the anointing which is in you. And you can attest to his presence in you by the signs we have talked about. Such as: the knowledge of God, his comfort, love of Him, his word, praying, and your everlasting desire to love and relate with Him.
The love of God is the perfect and most powerful sign of the anointing. I said in the last episode, that the word “Desire” is an everlasting characteristic of the Holy Spirit. This is how you know and experience that the Spirit of God is in you. Strong feeling is a natural thing for living souls. Apostle Paul use this word to suggest how we should approach and relate with God. “…so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation” A mortal child will outgrow baby food, but spiritual children of God must forever, hunger and thirst for Him.
Last week started talking about the signs of His anointing. To answer the question how do I know that the anointing of God is in me? To which Apostle John answered saying; “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. “1 John 4:13 (NKJV) And anyone “… who believes in the Son of God has the testimony (the witness of the Holy Spirit) in himself; …” 1 John 5:10 (NASB) When He is in you, He will testify to Himself in you. He will not leave you ignorant or wondering.
Last week we quoted Jesus said that the Holy Spirit is the spirit of God. This is the same Spirit which led, guided, and empowered his life and ministry. And as He rounded up his work of Redemption, He promised He will give us the Holy spirit, who will be “in” us forever.
Last week we talked about the gift of redemption. Which You can receive from God by faith in Jesus Christ. And thereafter, you develop a personal knowledge and relationship with your Redeemer (Jesus The Christ). Therefore, like a sheep knows his shepherd, you can know the LORD. To help us, as we read Jesus promised and offered the Helper. Which bring us to …
Last week we started this series: “The Gift of Holy Spirit”. We introduced three major gifts of God to all of us. The gift of life from the breath of God, second the gift of redemption and third the gift of Holy Spirit. Life is a gift from God for us to enjoy responsibly. Because “…each one of us will give an account of himself (his life) to God. Romans 14:12 (NASB) We are stewards of the gift of life and ambassadors of the image and glory of the living God.
In the Bible we can see three major gifts, which God gave to man: first, is the gift of life –“ The breath of life” The second is the gift of redemption – The redeemer “16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Third, is the gift of the Holy Spirit[JC1] - The Comforter.” 26 …the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, Jesus, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26 God is the only source and giver of these gifts. And man is the recipient or subject of these gifts[JC2] .
